They'd treasure you

Most local organisations really value their treasurers. Resignations are greeted with dismay and generally there's a frantic search for a replacement.

So if you have a head for figures, and really want to be 'loved', two local bodies at least would be glad of your help.

Dacorum Neighbourhood Learning Project is one and hours of working are flexible.

Their treasurer controls the funding provided to run all the varied courses and works with a committee to ensure the success of a very rewarding project.

Their main office is in Gadebridge, but a volunteer could work mainly from home and attend monthly meetings at the various community centres.

The length of service foreseen in the first instance is until February 28, 2009.

The areas of interest are in education and literacy. A good knowledge of accounts is needed and experience and some qualifications would be great.

The post would suit a man or a woman and there is disabled access.

At Oxfam, Hemel Hempstead too, someone with book keeping skills is needed to reconcile weekly takings and the till roll. Basic financial skills are needed and use of MS Excel.

No banking of monies is involved. This is a paper exercise (PC) involving making returns to Oxfam Regional Office in Bristol.

The retiring treasurer would be able to guide a new volunteer and training is available. Hours are flexible and commitment in the first instance is until Saturday, January 31, 2009.

The post is for a male or female, over 21.
