Hearing-aid monitoring
Hearing loss can be very isolating, but having a properly functioning hearing-aid can make all the difference.
However, many people don't cope well with using or maintaining their hearing-aids and this is where volunteers can provide a vital service.
The Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service is seeking volunteers to help provide basic hearing-aid maintenance in people's own homes, including cleaning, retubing and battery exchange.
Free comprehensive training will be given. The commitment is only part-time.
Skills and qualifications needed are a good sense of humour, good communication skills, manual dexterity and the ability to use one's own initiative when necessary.
Applicants should be between 18 and 75. The comprehensive training is followed by a three-month probationary period.
