Counsellors need support to help young people
The Urban Access Youth Counselling Service at Dacorum One Stop Shop at Dacorum Campus, in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead provides free counselling, advice and information to young people aged 14-25, as well as to parents and families as appropriate.
A new counselling support volunteer is needed. The role would suit someone prepared to do some basic admin and spend some time doing their own reading/studying or IT work and would be ideal for a student.
Weekdays, late afternoon or evening, or one Saturday morning per month would be useful and a rota system operates.
The person involved should have a friendly personality, commitment and be a reliable time keeper. This role is vital - without a volunteer the counsellors cannot help young people.
Work would be based in central Hemel Hempstead and would suit male or female, over 21.
Contributions to staff meetings would be welcomed as would a volunteer who could attend youth service courses appropriate to services, where agreed.
Also at Urban Access, Lynne Adams would like to recruit a Leaflet Designer, so if you have artistic skills and could design and produce leaflets or posters to advertise information and the counselling service for young people, you would be welcomed.
Hours are flexible as the work is home-based but IT skills, preferably in desktop publishing are also necessary.
