The speaker for the evening, Barbara Dalby, demonstrated and spoke about cooking with honey.

She had prepared all the ingredients beforehand and while making and talking about a particular recipe, the previous one was cooking in the microwave.

Every item was done in minutes and at the tea break, members were able to sample the results, which included lemon curd, flapjacks, suet pudding, chocolate cake and a spicy tomato dip.

A selection of honey was for sale, ranging from the pale early season honey to the very dark rich honey collected much later in the year.

The next meeting is on May 14, Methodist Church Hall, Ashtree Way at 7.45pm
