Our meeting on May 7 was our 57th birthday party. Our chairman welcomed everyone including 10 members from Gadebridge Townswomen's Guild.

There was a quiz to be done and then the buffet food, which had been well organised by Elizabeth Cooper, complete with wine or fruit juice.

After this our entertainment arrived which consisted of five ladies called the Lea Rig Band, directed by Alison, who played the Newcastle Bag Pipes, much smaller than ordinary bag pipes.

They played Irish and Scottish folk dances and some special tunes from Newcastle, instruments played were the violin, accordion, clarinet, and recorder.

Following this our president Joyce Catchpole cut the birthday cake and we all had a piece.

This followed the raffle. There were many prizes. Gadebridge Guild were very lucky and Adeyfield won prizes too.

Maureen Flint, councillor for Gadebridge, had joined us for the birthday party and it was good to see that she won first prize in the raffle.

Our next meeting is on June 4. Also on Saturday, June 7 Dacorum Midsummer Fair is to be held on the Old Market Square and we will be having a stall.
