ALL WRAPPED UP

No time to wrap presents this year? Why not take them to Hemel Hempstead’s Riverside Shopping Centre – opposite H&M – and let volunteers from Cavendish School do the job for you?

Volunteer Centre Dacorum has teamed up with pupils from the school and a business mentor from Dacorum Borough Council to take part in the Dragons Apprentice Challenge.

The challenge facing these young entrepreneurs is to turn £100 in to £1,000 by February – and one way they aim to reach that target is by holding Christmas gift wrap sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays in the run up to the big day. All money raised goes to support the centre’s work in the community. The charity supports more than 350 good causes and in the last year alone recruited over 1,300 volunteers.

HERTS PARTNERSHIP
NHS TRUST

Do you have an understanding of the problems facing people with mental health difficulties? Do you have an afternoon a week to support older people in a mental health setting in Bennetts End?

Volunteers are needed to offer company and conversation to service users, relatives and carers and to listen to their experience of the services they receive.

The right volunteer will have good communication skills with a patient and supportive nature. Full training and support is on offer.

HOPE FOR CHILDREN

Hope for Children, which works on behalf of disabled, orphaned, poor and exploited children in the UK and abroad, needs a volunteer marketing assistant to help deliver their social media strategy. Tasks include writing articles, creating promotional materials and contacting the media to raise awareness of charity events. You should have experience of using social media such as Facebook, Twitter or Pintrest, together with good written communication skills.
