Art gallery and framing business Picture Box in High Street, Tring, has been put up for sale.
The shop has been an integral part of the town centre for at least 15 years and owner Elizabeth Land is a reluctant seller.
She explained: "My father recently passed away and my mother is recovering from heart bypass surgery. I have therefore been spending an increasing amount of time visiting her in Wales.
"I simply cannot commit the same time and energy that the shop deserves. I am lucky that I have some very patient customers who have been incredibly understanding whilst friends and family have looked after the shop for me."
Mrs Land is seeking a new owner or shop manager who will continue her work. "With so many lovely, regular customers, I want to ensure that Picture Box continues to meet their needs," she said.
