A TEENAGER from Berkhamsted has been awarded a prestigious prize for his voluntary work in the sport.
Hugo Allen, 18, has won the British Tennis Young Volunteer of the Year award at the British Tennis Awards, held at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

The tennis enthusiast was recognised after he organised a number of competitions at Berkhamsted Tennis Club and encouraged many of his peers to volunteer in the sport.

He was selected from a group of 23 youngsters who attended a young volunteers camp held at the National Tennis Centre in early October.

"The further development of British Tennis relies on volunteers such as parents, club committees and coaches who do far more than they are paid for," he said.

"Within Berkhamsted Tennis Club there are many other people who are equally deserving of this award so thank you very much."
