Women in Berkhamsted are being urged to help uplift and support underprivileged countries by donating their old bras to Oxfam.

The town's branch of the charity wants the unwanted undies as part of its Wastesaver campaign.

The textile recycling scheme collects the bras and sells them to wholesalers in developing countries where they are in high demand but because of complex manufacturing few have the facilities to make their own.

Once sold, the money made is put back into Oxfam's fund and will be used to help other developing countries.

"Good quality donated bras are offered for sale in the shop, as is all good quality lingerie" said Berkhamsted Oxfam shop manager Jane Hockings, "they are very popular but Wastesaver can make excellent use of the rest."
