Youngsters helped open a new canopy which will act as a shelter from the rain and being UV-protected will allow for outdoor lessons.
Last Monday (July 7) at Greenway School, in Berkhamsted, the new canopy was opened after years of fundraising.
To raise the £13,000 it cost to install, the school held Christmas and summer fairs, quiz nights and hired a professional photographer to take pictures at the school which were then sold.
Barbara Miller and Louise Farrow, co-chairs of the Greenway School Association, said: "We are really grateful for everyone's hard work to raise money to pay for the canopies and we are very pleased that Greenway children will be able to make more use of the picnic tables, come rain or shine, as the roof is UV-protected and the current showery weather has proven that it doesn't leak."
