Friends of Nick Walsh, the teenager who died last year, are building a memorial garden as a tribute to the Berkhamsted youngster.

Football-mad Nick, of Cowper Road, died unexpectedly, from a brain aneurysm, at the age of 17 last May.

Now his friends at Ashlyns are building a garden at the school where pupils will be able to plant flowers in tribute to him.

One of Nick's friends, Georgia Craze, who is organising the garden said it was still hard for many of the students, but everyone was coping.

She said: "We wanted to have something in his memory where people can go, hang out and remember Nick."

Nick, known to many as Little Walshy, died after he collapsed just metres away from his front door after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

He was rushed to Hemel Hempstead hospital and then on to the Royal Free Hospital in London, but later died.

The youngster would have been in the final months of his A-Levels and even though the group in charge of the memorial are gearing up to leave the school, they say that will not stop them from looking after the garden.

Georgia said: "Even though we are leaving we have already said we are more than happy to come back and maintain the area in future years."
