Children brave the heat

Almost 100 schoolchildren donned on high-visible vests for a sponsored walk in aid of the Hospice of St Francis last Wednesday (May 7).
Despite the heat youngsters as young as four from Haresfoot School walked to the hospice grounds on Shootersway, Berkhamsted, escorted by police.
When the pupils arrived they enjoyed a picnic and presented the hospice chaplain, Liz Hughes, with rowan trees for the gardens.
The event is expected to raise around £1,000 for the charity.
Haresfoot teacher Nikki Holmes said: "The children have worked so hard, not just on the walk itself, but also learning about the Hospice and what they do for our community. We're really proud to have supported the charity in this very special way."
Harriet Karia, hospice community fundraising manager also praised the children's hard work.
"We were so impressed with the dedication of the children, staff and parents from Haresfoot. It really was an incredible sight, seeing a sea of smiling faces strolling along Shootersway, "she said.
