The sun was shining as cadets stood on ceremony for the recent annual general inspection at Berkhamsted Collegiate School.
The distinguished Lt Col Alasdair Cameron, RA, was the guest of honour for this year's Combined Cadet Force (CCF) inspection event.

In warm weather, the band of the Parachute Regiment entertained the many visitors, exhibiting skill in marching while playing a variety of musical instruments.

Lt Col Cameron was very impressed with the high standard of presentation by the cadets, who voluntarily take up the opportunity for leadership training offered by all three services, an initiative which the government would like to extend to state school students.

Joining Lt Col Cameron was his 89-year-old mother Vera Cameron, whose other son Angus, is also a Lt Col and is currently serving in Iraq.

Mrs Cameron was the first married woman to be appointed as a teacher at Berkhamsted School for Girls in 1948 and worked there for 30 years before retiring.
