Throughout most of the year the newsroom of The Gazette, HeraldExpress and hemeltoday.co.uk is home to people on work experience.
We believe work experience is a great way to learn about what we do and how we do it.

Consequently we get a great deal of interest from people wishing to apply and to simplify this process we hope everything you need is available on this page.

About work experience

We provide work experience for one week blocks. During your time here you may find yourself writing news stories, going out on jobs with reporters/photographers, learning how to find your own news stories, accessing our archives, see news pages being designed and learn about our website and audio/visual capabilities.

You will be expected to dress and act appropriately in the newsroom.

Below is a list of weeks which are currently filled. If you would like to apply for work experience outside of these dates then email our deputy editor, Victoria MacFarlaine by clicking here.
In your email please specify which dates you would prefer along with two test articles of no more than 250 words each, on any subject relevant to a local newspaper.

Due to volume of applicants we can no longer fill out work experience request forms, but have provided health and safety details below.
