CHILD OF THE SIXTIES (Part 5)

Pictures from the spring of 1963. Above youngsters from Bennetts End Secondary Modern School in Hemel performing the play The Battered Bride. The school was combined with Apsley Grammar to form the present day Longdean School

The stars turned out for a special show at Dacorum College which had only recently opened. The show was to raise money for the Mayor and Mayoress' (pictured left) famine relief appeal.The stars were (l to r) Frankie Howerd, guitarist Bert Weedon, local singer Jill Darby and theatrical agent David Stone who lived in Hemel.
