It's the
girls of Berkhamsted Telephone Exchange in 1963. They were known as
the Telephone Twisters and put on shows for charity

Fortunately
there were still steam engines around in 1963, so when this diesel engine
caught fire near Hemel station a steam engine was called in from London
to tow it away! |

Whoops!
This giant crane got stuck under the railway bridge that carried the
old Nicky line across the A41. The bridge has long gone.
