'Speakers Corner' Tree (corner of Bridge Street, Marlowes)

 

Surviving from the old town, the tree became home to campaign stands and politicians on a Saturday morning for over 30 years until it had to go for the pedestrianisation of Marlowes.

Our picture of it is taken as construction work on some of the new town shops began in the early1950s
