FUND SET UP TO HELP BUNCEFIELD VICTIMS

Dacorum Mayor Jane Hogg has set up a recovery fund in the wake of the Buncefield disaster to help local residents get back on their feet.
Cllr Hogg has been working with Dacorum Community Trust - a charity dedicated to helping local people through grants - to set up the special fund.
It is expected to help people replace furnishings, such as curtains and carpets, that have been damaged by the force of the blast.
Mrs Hogg said: "I spoke to Total yesterday they have as a gesture of good will and in no way are they accepting any responsibility, offered to help people get back into their houses before Christmas . They have been happy to provide, where required, help with getting windows and doors replaced.
"Everybody has to have property insurance but this recovery fund is for those who perhaps have no contents insurance."
Trust manager for Dacorum Community Trust, Margaret Kingston, has been working with Mrs Hogg to set up the recovery fund. She said: "The mayor is responding to the disaster and being aware of the problems and suffering it has caused she has set up a special fund.
Mrs Hogg said: "There will be people that will possibly be uninsured. They may have furnishings that have been damaged and they could claim from the fund.
“It depends on how much money comes in. It maybe that we can be a help in some incidences. It is for those gaps that may arise."
Since the depot blaze erupted early on Sunday morning Mrs Hogg has been visiting local residents and organisations helping in the emergency. She has praised the emergency services and local authorities for their quick response to the blast.
