APSLEY PAST

IN PICTURES

Dickinson's Mills have gone to be replaced by homes, the old Guildhall is being replaced by homes, homes are being built on part of the Frogmore Mill site, The Bell Inn has become a McDonald's and homes are going up beside the Village Club.

Apsley is changing dramatically and this picture series is to show new residents what it was like.

No sign of a traffic queue and no sign of Sainsbury in this early 20th century view approaching the church down London Road
Lewins stores in about 1930. It was on the railway side of Apsley 'High Street" and was a general store.
Pictured left is the Coronation Arch for George V in 1911 on the corner of Mill Street. Above, traffic builds up around 1912
