I have quite a few memories of Coombrook school about 1940 I was onlt there a while, does anyone remember me. I remember my friend was Elizabeth (Smith) I think and her mother owned a hotel in London also a girl named Patsy. Memories are vague as to names. We had stilts to walk on in the garden, and we had to eat artichokes that to this day I can not eat.One big classroom where all learned together.Copy books etc.

Lance Warrington has emailed Hemeltoday's Old School Memories section with this request.
It was my unhappy lot to be a reluctant pupil of Corner Hall Boys School from 1955-9, I can't find it in myself to hold any affection whatsoever for that grim establishment.
There is, however, one souvenir of that awful place that I would dearly like to own and that is the punishment book. It was bound in green and was kept in a drawer of the bookcase on the right as one entered the headmaster's study.
The cupboard below housed a selection of canes, the most viscious of which was heavily bound with scotch tape.
My name features many times in the punishment book, firstly in the neat, but unremarkable, work-a-day hand of Mr R(Dick)Barnard and secondly in the more practised, semi copperplate of C.H.E.Church and witnessed throughout by the long serving secretary, Dot Parish.
If you own this book, or know of its whereabouts, I would dearly like to hear from you.
If you know where the book his, contact hemeltoday by clicking below and we'll pass the info on

I used to live in Cotterels before the riverside gardens (Water Gardens) were created. I attended Bury Road Primary School and am interested in hearing from anyone who attended this school from 1950's. I remember a Mrs Johnson, Mr Ashby being teachers at this school. Mr Stansell was the grocer at the end of Marlows.

I am now in my 82nd year. I attended school at the Apsley Manor School until 1939 when it was closed and we were transferred to Corner Hall School where I spent the last months of my education.I had perhaps been a bit of a trial to my teachers.
One very special teacher was a Miss Rickard who just about every one in the class fell in love with (boys and girls)
A Miss Luck taught us how to write with joined up letters and I still get complemented on my writing.
Mr Redrup was the Head Master at one time and I attend our Senior Citizens Group here in New Zealand with his uncle Jack who I believe is 95.small world even 13,000 miles away.
I have only had the privilege to return once to England that was in 1979 after being in NZ 23 years and several of my school buddies acknowledged me as if I had never been away.
I would love to hear from any who are e'mail minded. I still call England home after 52 years.
