A lift to the shops for elderly residents
Five people enjoyed their inaugural trip with the Door to Store service on Friday.
The scheme picks people up from their own homes and takes them to Tesco in Jarman Park, Sainsbury’s, Apsley Mills, or Morrisons, St Albans.

Hide AdRun by community Action Dacorum, the service uses an accessible minibus with a passenger lift, so people who use a wheelchair or have difficulties with steps can use it
The cost is £4 to £6 for the return journey.
A wheelchair can be provided if required.
Help is available to get bags on and off the minibus and to your front door.
And wheelchair users who need extra help can bring someone with them.
Shopping trips must be booked in advance on 01442 253935, and you are asked to give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a booking.

Hide AdThe pilot scheme will run until July 1, when the service will be reviewed and refined to meet users’ needs, and Community Action Dacorum is asking for feedback throughout the pilot period.
Volunteer drivers and helpers are also wanted for the Door to Store scheme.
Full training and induction will be given and no extra insurance is required.
